Plain Air: an indoor air purifier
Jun 21st

Patrick Norguet has designed Plain Air an indoor air purifier. Plain Air cleans air by accomplishing three major tasks: Breaking down the main pollutants to avoid risk of people contracting ‘Sick Building Syndrome’, which causes nausea and dizzy spells to people who stay too long in a confined space; efficient disinfection of air-borne bacteria, spores, moulds, yeasts and viruses, and swift deodorization of unpleasant biological and chemical smells by changing contaminated elements into natural molecules. All three of these depolluting actions are carried out using the Photocatalysis Oxidation miniaturized technology developed by TLV, which uses Philips light sources to mineralize pollutant particles, turning them into those aforementioned natural molecules. The device has been tested by the Institut Pasteur and by University Hospitals in Lyons.
To top it all off, it’s a cool piece of modern art; I’ll take one.

Hyundai Equus to use iPad as its owners manual
Jun 19th

A few years ago when you heard the word Hyundai, luxury was probably not the first thought that popped into your head. All that sort of changed with the addition of the Genesis to its lineup in 2008. Now Hyundai is gearing up to release the Equus, slated to be the most expensive car in the company’s lineup. Hyundai must’ve thought a boring, printed manual like every other car wouldn’t suit the exclusiveness of this vehicle, so instead, newly minted owners will be receiving an iPad with the manual pre-loaded. The iPad would also include an app that would allow owners to contact their local dealership to schedule service and that will also remind the owner of routine maintenance such as oil changes. The iPad will be a 16gb WiFi only version and come with its own custom made leather case.

To top off the extreme coolness of the AR.Drone, it also comes with an augmented reality game one where you have to shoot down a fighter plane; the other game pits you against a friend with a chopper as well.
Parrot’s AR.Drone will be available for purchase at selected retailers in September 2010 in the United States with a price of $299.
